Safety / EHS Manager - Food Manufacturing
Job Description
Direct Hire opportunity for an EHS Manager for a well-established, large-scale food manufacturer in Tucker, GA. This direct-hire opportunity offers a competitive salary of $100,000–$130,000 (based on experience) and the chance to lead EHS compliance for a high-volume food manufacturing facility with a strong focus on wastewater and ammonia systems.
As EHS Manager, you'll partner with plant leadership to drive environmental, health, and safety compliance — with particular emphasis on wastewater system oversight and ammonia system management. You'll implement and sustain EHS programs, conduct regulatory audits, and report results directly to the Plant Manager and leadership team.
What You'll Do
Wastewater & Ammonia Systems
- Oversee wastewater systems and all required documentation and reporting
- Manage ammonia systems and all associated compliance requirements
- Maintain licensing with county and state agencies related to wastewater and ammonia
EHS Program Leadership
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Partner with plant management for the successful completion of regulatory audits
- Design and implement hazardous waste management plans
- Measure and monitor overall EHS performance; identify opportunities for improvement
- Manage and report injuries, illnesses, environmental metrics, and risk assessments
Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor federal and state occupational safety, health, and environmental regulations for changes
- Provide EHS technical support to all departments
- Complete risk assessments and recommend control measures
- Ensure contractors meet safety requirements through pre-qualification and auditing
Incident Investigation & Prevention
- Direct accident investigation programs and identify trends
- Ensure complete incident, near-miss, and first aid reporting with root cause analysis
- Follow through on corrective actions and recommendations
Collaboration & Partnership
- Partner with HR on workers' compensation, transitional duty, and return to work programs
- Support food safety and quality standards through adherence to plant GMPs
- Work with plant leadership to develop EHS goals and KPIs
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience with wastewater systems and required documentation
- Hands-on experience with ammonia systems and compliance requirements
- Experience in maintaining licensing with county and state agencies
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state environmental and safety regulations
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, or equivalent experience
- CSP or CHMM certification a plus
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment with schedule flexibility for off-shifts
