This role combines hands-on laboratory expertise with team leadership, ensuring accurate and timely microbiology testing to support production and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze food samples for microorganisms including APC, Coliform, E. coli, yeast/mold, Salmonella, and Listeria
• Monitor microbial environments in production facilities to prevent contamination
• Utilize laboratory techniques including culturing, molecular biology, and mass spectrometry
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations
• Train and supervise laboratory technicians and support staff
• Manage laboratory operations including equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and budget oversight
• Handle proficiency testing, validations, and technical support issues
• Provide critical review of product results and regulatory reporting

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Microbiology (Master's preferred)
• Experience: Minimum 5 years laboratory experience, preferably in food manufacturing with 3+ years in active microbiology role
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and laboratory equipment operation
• Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
• Budget management experience
